Find us at Curiosities!

I'm thrilled to share the upcoming grand opening of Curiosities, a wonderfully eclectic boutique in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco.

Proprietors Karrie Finkel, and sister, Tina Mulligan, have been in the vintage/antiques business for more than 26 years. They've teamed up to open Curiosities, a very special shop that has a unique blend of old and new.

You can tickle your fancy at Curiosities with a wide selection of decorative accessories, Asian antiques, fine sterling silver, vintage garden pieces, fine vintage and designer replica jewelry, eclectic collectibles,  gifts and more.

vintage hat stands

One of the most exciting things I have to share is that you'll be able to find some of Paris Hotel Boutique's pieces at Curiosities. I've been a friend of Karrie's since my early days in the antiques business, and am honored to have some of my goodies available at this fine boutique! Please pay a visit if in the neighborhood.

The grand opening is October 1st.

What Did your Childhood Bedroom Look Like?

Just stmbled upon this photo of me in the early 1970s. Okay, I'm dating myself. So stylish though,   ha ha. Favorite color: pink. Collections: candles, happy face pins, beads, stationary, stickers, glass animals. The list goes on.

Were you a pink, blue or yellow lover? What did you collect?

Happy First Day of Fall!

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall.

Welcome this lovely season!

A Few of my Favorite Things...

iomoi pens

Every so often when I'm not in the "world of vintage," I am quite the consumer, purchasing new and fun things. Let me share some of my favorite finds of recent:

I adore these Eiffel Tower glassine bags from Mon Jardin de Papier on Etsy. We use them at Paris Hotel Boutique for our receipts and they are a nice large size for a special little gift.

Each even has a little rhinestone at the top of the Eiffel Tower!

You've probably heard me in the past raving about one of my favorite shops, iomoi. Irene and hubby, Matthew, carry the most grand assortment of vintage-inspired items from their fabulous stationary to tote bags. I'm crazy for these Hollywood Regency pens (and pencils). They look so fancy in a grouping!

Between the hot pink (my favorite), the gold foil,  the calligraphy & easel, I rushed as quickly as I could to get my credit card out ! sugar paper, Los Angeles has these fabulous desk calendars, already out for 2014!

How many times does your Smart Phone run out of batteries? Mine does daily. My friend turned me on to these wonderful chargers from Nomerack. There are assorted colors, and this convenient device will add up to 40 hours of extra talk time to your phone. And, they are so cute...look like lipstick holders!

These great looking collars available at Olive Green Dog,  are for adopted animals and are a celebration of dogs and people finding each other. True to their tradition of quality and innovation, Found My Animal has crafted a high quality leather and rope collar using reclaimed leather, their signature rope, and solid brass hardware. I love them!

Hope you enjoyed my favorite things and have a lovely weekend!

Quirky Vintage Images

Hope you're enjoying your long holiday weekend!

I was just perusing one of my favorite sites, Retronaut, an English based website with vintage photos, many leaving you think,  "what the heck?"

Gay Pride 1974

Retronaut is a blog created by Chris Wild, a former museum curator who has used photos from museums and other collections as well as material contributed by visitors."Rather than nostalgia or folly, the aim is enlightenment, wonder and the pleasure of weirdness," The Guardian newspaper of London remarked about the website in 2010.

The site is filled with interesting photos, and not just of celebrities.

1899- Los Angeles' first telephone pay station

Alfred Hitchcock wearing a Beatle wig - 1964

black cat stockings

The office of price control fighting - 1945

Albert Einstein on the beach - 1939

Check out Retronaut here. You may lose a couple of hours of your day there!
