You Ought to Be in Pictures!

I just discovered the iPhone App, "8 mm Vintage Camera" for Apple. It's so much fun!

You can film movies right from your phone and select the time period such as 1920s, Siena, 70s NOIR, and more! It even has the flickering, dust and scratches of old movies.

For $1.99, it's definitely worth it. Check out the App here.

Now I just have to brush up on my photography skills!

Happy weekend!

Jewelry Obsessed... Gem Gossip!

Aren't most of us obsessed with jewelry? I can never have enough in my personal collection, and always looking for the most interesting pieces to offer you at Paris Hotel Boutique.

Meet Danielle Miele, author of the well-known blog, Gem Gossip. Danielle and I have been mutual fans for years.

Danielle is a treasure trove of knowledge. She has been a jewelry collector since she was four years old, but her career in the jewelry business officially started in 2008 when she first began her successful blog.

Her jewelry blog, Gem Gossip, focuses on jewelry trends, antique and period jewelry, celebrity jewelry, as well as exclusive designer interviews. It is also a hub for gemstone and jewelry education, considering Danielle’s Graduate Gemologist studies through the Gemological Institute of America.

Looks at these date rings (above). I'm totally obsessed with them, thanks to Danielle's amazing collection. In fact, I just purchased my first one. Now I'm on the hunt.

Danielle travels the world covering jewelry stories, visiting stores and collecting rings. She has the best eye candy and is so informative about jewelry. She is definitely one you want to follow, whether it's her blog here or her wonderful posts on Instagram, here.

Yummy Fairy Cakes

I saw this image on Pinterest and thought, don't these look yummy?

They're called, "fairy cakes." The history of the fairy cake is akin to the history of the cupcake, which first shows up in literature at the end of the 1700s, in "American Cookery," described as "a cake to be baked in small cups." Muffin tins weren't always an available product, so bakers instead baked cupcakes in ramekins or individual pottery cups.

Here is a nice recipe for a fairy cake from BBC Food Recipes.

Could this replace the cupcake trend?

Beautiful Skin, Victorian-Style!

I've always been fascinated by how detailed the Victorians were about everything from objects to rituals. This beautiful little Victorian brass souvenir book is from the Hotel Seneca in New York.  It holds "powder leaves." You would remove a page from this book and rub it on your face. "The result will be the removal of all dust, grime and oil, leaving a soft bloom and imparting a refreshing feeling to the skin."

And to think we use such expensive creams and potions for our skin!

Look how detailed the front and back of this booklet is? Don't you just love the Victorians?

This beautiful book is available to purchase in our shop here.
